Simplicity 1699
I have decided that every time I get a new pattern, I will put it up and kind of dissect it, if you will. The first pattern I will showcase is Simplicity 1699.
I love the Simplicity patterns for a couple of reasons.
1: They're almost always super simple. I'm still cutting my teeth on the whole sewing thing, so simple is always a good thing until I have had enough practice.
2: They're on sale all the time at Hancock Fabrics. If you look at their sales ad/flyer, at some point in the month you're going to see a sale for $1.99 Simplicity patterns. That price is hard to beat.
3: They have cute stuff! Its a rare day when I see a Simplicity pattern and don't automatically think 'damn, that's cute.'
So, the main reason I wanted this pattern was for the pants. I knew one day I would be attempting pants and these looked fairly easy, but also dressy enough for work with the right top. I only need less than 3 yards for my size, which sounded good to me.
The second reason I wanted this pattern was for the jacket. It looked super sweet in its lacey-ness. It also looked very simple and only required yards for my size. **UPDATE: I made it!
The dress looks cute and simple, as well. I have a ton of dress patterns currently, so that one will have to wait.
The peplum shirt looks ok. I'm not a giant fan of peplum, but its actually kind of cute. I'm not digging the pale color combo on the cover, so I might shake it up with some brighter colors. I see it a lot on Pinterest and random clothing searches, so I will attempt it and let you know! **UPDATE: I made it!! And I now like peplum! :)
Thus concludes my first breakdown of a pattern. I hope you enjoyed it!
