Blame it on The Husband

I tried to tell him "You simply cannot let me go to a fabric store without adult supervision. Bad things happen." But he let me go solo... and look what happened. The remnant section happened.

I went in Hancock Fabrics for a couple of things that I was going to buy online. I had a couple of hours to kill, so I thought I would just go pick my stuff out instead of buying it online. Heck, they are only a couple of miles away, and I don't have to pay for shipping. So off to Hancock's I went.

You know it's a bad sign when you walk up towards the mall and a passerby says "they're evacuating the mall." He kept walking past me, so I thought I would just go see what's up. After all, no one was running from the mall to their cars. How bad could it be? It wasn't that bad; someone had either had a fire or someone pulled a fire alarm. But Hancock is not connected to the Stones River Mall, so I was a little confused as to why they had their doors closed. Anywho, there were some crafty looking ladies sitting outside of Hancock's waiting and talking about the 'fire' and how this had happened a couple of weeks ago. I believe they said last time it was an actual fire in the mall, but this time they thought it was an alarm puller rather than an actual fire. I saw a cop car and fire truck drive leisurely by, so I knew nothing major could be going on. About 5 minutes later, they opened the doors. Once I got inside, I asked the woman how often this happened and she said it's only happened a couple of times. I told her if the fire ever hit their store, I would cry. Everyone there is always so damn nice. :)

So I went in for an invisible zipper foot, which was harder to find than I thought it would be. Actually, it was where I thought it would be, but I didn't see it the first time I walked by the zippers. So I walked up and down the notions aisles and saw other feet, but not the one I was going for. So I walked past the clothes dye (which I had in my cart online) so I got some blue, black and scarlet dyes. I have a sweater dress project that I am going to attempt soon. I'm very excited about it.

So I also walked past the fabric marking devices and picked up some chalk and a tracing wheel, another couple of things that I had in my online cart. I also stopped by the ribbon section because a couple of them caught my eye. I don't have a lot of ribbon in my stash, so a couple more can't hurt, right? Right?

I also stopped by the remnant section, but it started as a nice gesture to my husband. He wants me to attempt to make a cover for his car or motorcycle. We have bought a few over the years, and they seem to last about a year a piece. So I initially went to the remnant section to see if there were a small sample of a waterproof looking fabric to see if it was feasible. I found a few in the 'home fabric' section, so naturally I wanted to check the regular remnant section. You know, just in case. There wasn't... But there were remnants a plenty. So I grabbed, um, a few.

And when I finally decided to leave, the nice cashier asked what I was going to do with them all. "I have no idea!!" I replied with a smile. And I truly have no idea. Well, the 2 dark blue ones on the outside could make a skirt, and the tan one and dark red one could work as my linings for my bow back shirts. I also got some fabric for my mom, but I can't show it in case she looks. I have no idea what I'll do with that fabric either, btw. :-D
