Mother's Day Throwback

For the past few years, I have wanted to re-do a picture of my mom and my grandma with something I made. I was lucky enough to get to do the re-do of my grandma's picture last year and I have been waiting for the past 2 years to re-do my mom's picture. You see, in her picture, she is holding some lilac blooms and for the past freakin 2 years my lilac decided not to bloom. Uggggggh. Actually, this year it began to bloom a teensy bit, but then it snapped cold and whatever blooms remained on the plant were pretty ruined. But the blooms were super small and crappy looking to begin with. I'm toying with moving the bush to another location to see if some more sun might help.

Anywho, the other day I got off work early and went on a walkabout through the yard to see if any of my veggies were starting to grow yet and what did I see but some small purple flowers (wisteria, I think) growing in the tree line near the blackberries and honeysuckle. Eureka!! So I went inside and asked the hubs to grab the camera and follow me. I also changed into a sweater and white shirt that I had made a while ago for just this occasion. And so it began. These purple flowers were too high up to get a decent picture, so I took a step stool and cut a couple of them off from the top of the bush. Then I came back down and my husband used the picture as a guide to tell me how to pose, all the while trying to hide the fact that I was holding some cut flowers instead of some that were on the plant. haha. I think it turned out great!!

So the flowers aren't lilacs (still mad about that) and the color of the sweater isn't quite the same, but still. I am very happy with it!! Happy Mother's Day, momma!! :-D

***Shout out to the husband for always being my willing photographer. <3 <3 <3
